APPG Sport, Modern Slavery and Human Rights: The Impact of Covid-19 on Sport
On June 16, the APPG on Sport, Modern Slavery and Human Rights will meet to discuss the impact of Covid-19 on sport. Specifically, the APPG will gather evidence to inform the APPG’s submission to the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Committee’s inquiry. The discussion will cover, but is not limited to, the following topics:
- Gender inequality in reopening sport;
- Covid-19’s disproportionate impact on black and minority ethnic (BAME) athletes;
- Athletes’ rights e.g. right to refuse to return to action; and
- Trafficking and modern slavery in sport sector.
